Spiritual Thoughts

Fellow Men of Christ,

A new year is upon us. The Lord has shepherded us through a time of great tribulation. As I approach the new year I find myself left feeling some bitterness from the year that is passing and I have asked the Lord, how can I prepare myself to serve him in the new year. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles:... [Matthew 9;17]

His answer to me was clear, I must clear out all the resentments, disappointments and hurts from the past year, I must cleanse myself and prepare myself to be filled anew with the grace of our Lord.

As I reflect I realize that my greatest obstacle to walking within the light of the Lord is myself. The sureness that comes with the Lords grace is seemingly just outside my reach. The comfort I find in this world is fleeting at best and often leads me down paths away from the Lord. I know that I am a work in progress and that the Lord walks with me. I pray that I can be humble enough of spirit to open myself to the cleansing that the grace of the Lord brings. I pray that I may be a new vessel, a new bottle, fresh and ready to be of service to the Lord in the new year.

The Lord is calling us all to clear away the obstacles that keep us distant from him. I pray that we together, men in Christ, seize this gift of a new year, to open ourselves to the healing and cleansing of the Lords grace. For the law ...was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus... [John 1;17]
